2017-08 Monthly Report

Monthly Report

August, 2017

  • Emailed to the Board of Trustees a few agenda items that could come up for discussion in the Board’s Meeting in August. These items were:

  • To discuss the possibility of holding one or more workshops on family issues proposed to be conducted by the Muslim Family Services at AMDA.
  • To explore the possibility of putting AMDA’s published brochures on the web.
  • To decide on the date of our annual open-house event.
  • To come up with a plan to call the community to ‘sponsor a parking space’ like the one done earlier to ‘sponsor a tree’. A family or group of people could also join in to sponsor a parking space. This could also be done in the memory of a deceased loved one.  Emphasis has to be placed on the fact that this act of giving constitutes a perpetual charity (sadaqah jariyah).
  • Invited Dr. Muhammad Ramzi to deliver a khutba at AMDA Masjid on Friday, August 4th. He was kind enough to accept the invitation.

  • Gave a speech at the Friday Family Night Event on Friday, August 4th on the topic: “Lessons from Hajj.”

  • On request of Br Mirza Ansaar Baig, a community member, and after the Board’s approval to do so, coordinated and promoted the selling of the book entitled: “The Life of Muhammad” in AMDA on August 4, after Friday prayers and during the Friday Family Night Dinner on the same day. The entire sale-proceeds of the books were donated by Br Baig to AMDA Masjid.

  • Delivered a khutba on Friday, August 11th on the topic: “Zakat—Its Meaning and Significance.”

  • Participated in a meeting on Saturday, August 12 with some board members and other community members to discuss the ‘Sirah Conference’ proposed to be organized by AMDA on Dec 2 or/and 3.

  • Delivered a khutba on Friday, August 25th on the topic: “Taking Lessons from Hajj.”

  • Delivered a short tafsir of few verses of the Qur’an every day after Salat ul Fajr.

  • The weekly Quran classes on Wednesdays and Thursdays were suspended during the month of Ramadan and were resumed after Eid ul-Fitr.

  • The “Ideal Muslim Halaqa” series was conducted on every Friday after Maghrib prayers other than on the first Friday of the month.
