October 2015

·        Sent a proposal to the Board for teaching a course entitled ‘Essentials of Islam’ with effect from January 2016 inshaAllah.

·        Forwarded Welcoming Michigan’s email to the Board asking us to look for volunteers who wish to teach English as a second language to the new immigrants in Troy and Sterling Heights.

·        Participated in an interfaith meeting organized by Rev. Michael Curro at the St. Blasé Catholic Church (12151 Fifteen Mile Road, Sterling Heights, MI 48312) on Thursday, October 8th to   share ideas concerning a faith based effort led by religious leaders to build relationships and unity within Sterling Heights and working with the City leaders (elected officials, city employees, business, not-for-profit, etc.) to help the City to live out its “Welcoming City” designation.

·        Sisters’ halaqa held in the Masjid on Friday, October 9th in which a talk was given by Sr. Madiha Bajwa on the topic: ‘Islam and married life.’

·        Conducted the two (Wednesday & Thursday) weekly Qur’an Classes at AMDA. 

·        Delivered Jumu’ah Khutba on October 2nd at IONA on the topic: ‘Concept of Belief in God.’

·        Delivered Jumu’ah Khutba on October 2nd at AMDA on the topic: ‘Explanation of Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim.’

·        Delivered Jumu’ah Khutba on October 9th at AMDA on the topic: ‘Explanation of the Hadith – Take Advantage of Five before Five.’ 

·         Participated in an interfaith meeting organized at IONA in the city of Warren on Wednesday, October 21st to discuss the steps to be taken for working towards healing and reconciliation in the community. 

·        Delivered Jumu’ah Khutba on October 23rd at AMDA on the topic: ‘Hypocrisy’ (Nifaq). 

·        Shaykh Ibrahim Madani, a visiting scholar from Canada was at AMDA on Saturday, October 24th and gave a talk after Maghrib on the topic: ‘Having Faith in Times of Hardship.’ 

·        Delivered Jumu’ah Khutba on October 30th at AMDA on the topic: ‘What does it mean to be blessed?’ 

·        Brother Sayed Mostafa (Attorney) was at AMDA on Saturday, October 31st and gave a talk at 11.30 am on the topic: ‘Wills and Trust.’ The talk was followed by a Q & A session.  

·        Sent an email to AMDA’s Board regarding proposed and ongoing activities at AMDA.
