March, 2018

 

  • Delivered a khutba on Friday, March 2nd on the topic: “Barzakh.”

 

  • Br Noor Alam delivered a khatira after Fajr prayers on Saturday, March 3rd on the topic: “Constant Remembrance of Allah.”

 

  • On occasion of the Family Night Dinner Event on March 2nd, there was a talk given by Imam Mustapha Elturk, Imam and President of IONA on the topic: “Spirituality,” followed by a presentation on Hajj Packages by Amity Travel.

 

  • Participated in a meeting every Wednesday in the month of March to discuss about the upcoming conference on May 4th and 5th at AMDA on ‘Mental Health Issues among the Muslim Youth.” Attendees included Sr Marina Azim, Sr Fariha Ghazi, Br Zeeshan Rizwan, Br Obair Siddiqui, and me.

 

  • A meeting of the intending pilgrims of the AMDA Hajj team took place on Saturday, March 10th in the Masjid. They submitted the necessary documents and paid the initial deposit of US$ 3000/ each to Amity Travel, the travel agents who were organizing the Hajj trip for us.

 

  • Along with a team of brothers and sisters from AMDA, visited the First Presbyterian Church of Warren on Saturday, March 10th to provide food to the homeless. Remained in the Church for around 3 hours. Also offered our Maghrib prayer in congregation in the Church.

 

  • A gathering of New Muslims took place at AMDA Masjid on Friday, March 16th. They prayed Maghrib and Isha with us, interacted with us and joined us at dinner. They briefly related their stories and experiences about their journey to Islam. Some of their non-Muslim relatives also joined in and observed us praying.

 

  • Delivered a khatira after Fajr prayers on Saturday, March 17th on the topic: “The Path to Happiness.”

 

  • On Monday, March 19th, participated in the City of Sterling Heights Clergy Forum from 9 to 11a.m at the Sterling Heights Library, 40255 Dodge Park Road.

 

  • Conducted the Salat ul Janazah of late Br Shah Muhammad Karamat Ali, father of sister Keya Saifullah on Monday, March 19th and attended his burial at the White Chapel Cemetery on Tuesday, March 20th.

 

  • Delivered a khutba on Friday, March 23rd on the topic: “Lessons from Surat al-Kahf.”

 

  • Delivered a khatira after Fajr prayers on Saturday, March 24th on the topic: “On being Positive.”

 

  • On Saturday, March 24th, had a meeting with the in-charge of the ‘soup kitchen’ at the ‘Muslim Center’ (1605 Davison Fwy, Detroit, MI 48238) in order to involve members of the AMDA community in this humanitarian activity on a regular basis. Sister Marina Azim and Brother Muhammad Azim were also present in the meeting.

 

  • Sent an email request to the board members to allow ‘Helping Hands for Relief and Development’ to park their truck in AMDA’s parking lot on Sunday, April 8th (per their request) to enable the community members to drop food for Syrian Refugees in Jordan.

 

  • Delivered a khutba on Friday, March 30th at IONA on the topic: “Barzakh” and also another khutba at AMDA on the topic: “Stages of Purification before Entering Jannah.”

 

  • Delivered a khatira after Fajr prayers on Saturday, March 31st on the topic: “Islamic etiquette of Dealing with People.”

 

  • Delivered a short tafsir of few verses of the Qur’an after Salat ul Fajr every day other than Saturday.

 

  • Delivered a short tafsir of few verses of the Qur’an after Salat ul Isha every Wednesday and Thursday.

 

  • The ongoing weekly ‘Quranic Arabic’ classes were conducted on Wednesdays. InshaAllah, the Classes on Thursdays will be resumed after Ramadan.
